Welcome to Anahata Yoga & Meditation, formerly Release Relaxation Services.
Anahata, or ‘heart chakra’, is the fourth primary chakra, and the Anahata chakra governs love, compassion and acceptance. These are qualities I aim to embody through my Yoga & Mindfulness teaching. More importantly, Self Love, Compassion & Acceptance are some of the wonderful outcomes regular practice of Yoga & Mindfulness has to offer each one of us, and I look forward to sharing that journey with you.
In Sanskrit, Anahata means “unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten”. Associated with air, the Anahata chakra governs love, compassion and acceptance. When the heart chakra is in healthy alignment we feel surrounded by love, compassion, and joy and connected to the world around you. We might also say that when we live from a Heartspace, we come from a space of compassion, love and acceptance, and feel more connected and joyful.
The intention of all Yoga is to unify your mind and body and bring us to a space of Oneness and Acceptance. Sadly, in my experience, all too often Yoga is associated with supple bodies in perfect poses, and teaching that forces us into places that the average body will not easily go, without strain, injury or resistance. So rather than being inviting and encouraging to all, Yoga when taught without Ahimsa (non-violence) can be intimidating, overwhelming, off-putting… and unsafe.
My aim is to offer a Yoga & Mediation teaching from a true Heartspace, one that embodies Yoga’s true spiritual potential – to connect us to ourselves, and others, whilst offering healing & unity to the body and mind. I offer this by encouraging Self Compassion and Self Acceptance both during, and through, the practice. This means respecting each individual person and their body, each of our limitations and potential, in any particular moment. I aim to do this by teaching in a way that is approachable, compassionate, and down to earth. I encourage a personal connection, humour, openness and lightness as part of each class, whilst respecting professional ethics and ‘technical’ alignment considerations. I offer a gentle and encouraging space for your body & your mind… not ‘one-size-fits-all’ bootcamp. I will offer adjustments, and encourage you to explore variations, allowing you to find your way, and most importantly, to be “unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten”.
There is a Yoga to suit everyone, from the very gentle, soft and meditative – to the very dynamic and strong. You just need to find the one that’s right for you, at this time, so you can embrace the practice, with confidence and self-acceptance… and when you do, you’ll allow the journey to unfold, so that Yoga can work its magic for you…
